There is something magical about winter, when nature slows, retreats inward, and enters a period of dormancy. I then had molds made from the original leaves, capturing their intricate textures and natural imperfections. Through the traditional lost-wax casting process, this fragile botanical form was transformed into sterling silver.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat began as an effort to preserve something fleeting from nature would, years later, take on an entirely different meaning.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\nThe fern wraps around the finger, its leaves overlapping, exposed and imperfect. I left the form intentionally organic and unrefined, reflecting how grief has felt to me—stripped of protection, unpredictable, tender, and raw.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eÀ VIF, French for \u003ci\u003eraw\u003c\/i\u003e or \u003ci\u003epainfully exposed\u003c\/i\u003e, is not a representation of death itself, but of what remains in us after someone we love is gone. Grief changes us. It leaves us exposed, tender, and sometimes unfamiliar to ourselves.
