The packet usually holds ideas of growth, memory, and what we carry with us, so it felt meaningful to use that same form to think about death and loss.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDeath is something I have always found difficult to understand. We know it is inevitable, but I don’t think we are ever really prepared for it. When loss comes unexpectedly, it can feel like something familiar has suddenly disappeared. I chose an eclipse because it felt close to that feeling. During an eclipse, the sun seems to disappear into darkness, but it is still there. Its light is only hidden for a moment.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe piece shows a mother-of-pearl sun partially covered by a black diamond moon, with three small stars around it. For me, the eclipse became a way of thinking about death not only as an ending, but as something that changes how we see life, memory, and what remains. \u003cem\u003eMemento mori\u003c\/em\u003e is a reminder that life is finite.
