What does death mean to you?
Had you asked me this the day my little sister died of cancer at just 19, I’d have answered: shock.
A year later, numbness. Two years, despair. Nine years later (today) I’d tell you Death wears many faces and holds many meanings. Perhaps, ten years from now, my answer will change again.
Death is finite. Grief is not. It is a burden often carried in solitude, shared only when we allow ourselves to be seen.
And yet, Death can also mean hope: that we will one day meet our ancestors on the other side, carrying their memory until it is our time to transcend this realm.
This talisman represents my dialogue with Death and Grief. What we see on the outside is often only a glimpse of what we carry within.
A talisman for remembrance, reflection, and the beautiful impermanence of life.
A garnet represents our lifeblood; a window into what lies true for those who walk with Death daily, a skull honors those who have passed: Memento Mori, and stars to represent hope and the expansiveness of Life. Three gold spheres embody Past, Present, and Future, aligned in the spirit of As Above, So Below.
